Okay, two months in and I am still remembering to update my blog. This deserves a round of applause, as far as I am concerned.

The big news this month is that Independence Day is here! What a surprisingly fun holiday! No one expects your house to be decked out in red, white and blue from top to bottom when they’ve arrived for a simple barbecue. Surprise ‘em! Elsie Bell’s has all kinds of retro and antique items on the sales floor for your consideration. There are the traditional flags and streamers, of course, but there is also a wide selection of framed WWI and WWII sheet music, adorable statuettes and military books. If you have a chance, take a look above the sales counter and thank our clerk, Kyndra, for her fabulous swaggy decorations. They’re so over-the-top that you can almost hear the brass band coming down the street. The girl has an artist’s touch!

And, since it’s only six months ‘til Christmas, we’re experimenting with our first “Christmas in July” booth. If you miss it, don’t worry, I’m not taking this puppy down (it’s too much work!). It’ll be up year ‘round for those of you with “Christmas in your heart” all the year through.
